Tool and Belt-Worn Tool Management Standard
Standard procedure
Standard for tool and belt-worn tool operation on site from the perspective of safety and quality. For year-specific rules, see the notice page.
1. Basic Principle
Belt-worn tools are not "standard equipment". They may be used only when work conditions are in place.
In principle, tools shall be under bag management.
2. When to Use Bag Management (Principle)
Use of belt-worn tools is prohibited in the following situations:
- During bring-in and bring-out
- Before protection is in place
- When the work area is not yet determined
- When workers from other companies are present in density
- Premium interior sites (glass floor, marble, tile, etc.)
- Work near display fixtures or precision equipment
In these phases, necessary tools shall be taken from the bag each time.
3. Conditions for Allowing Belt-Worn Tools
Belt-worn tools may be used only when all of the following are satisfied:
- Protection work completed
- Work scope determined
- Surrounding safety confirmed
- Drop and contact risks judged to be manageable
Transition to work mode is made upon confirmation by the person in charge.
4. High-Risk Site Exception
On sites that fall under the following, bag management is the principle:
- Glass floor
- Premium interior
- Display or fixture dense areas
- Atrium / open structure
If belt-worn tools must be used, take drop-prevention measures for small tools.
5. Role of Person in Charge
The person in charge shall prioritize the following:
- Judge whether belt-worn tools may be used based on the day’s work
- Prioritize safety confirmation and not focus only on their own work
- Maintain an environment where problems do not occur
6. Work Mode Switch (Overview)
Bag management mode (principle)
Bring-in, before protection, area undetermined, other companies dense, premium interior, etc. → Take tools from bag each time.
Work mode (conditional)
Protection completed, scope determined, safety confirmed, person in charge confirmed → Belt-worn tools may be used.
