[Notice] Ceiling Board, Wall Board and Access Panel Removal

Strictly comply with the following for ceiling board, wall board and access panel removal. Access panels shall be removed as a rule. Applies to all sites.

1. Supervisor Assignment

  • Removal work must be carried out with a supervisor in attendance
  • The supervisor shall focus on safety confirmation and surrounding confirmation
  • The supervisor shall in principle not focus on performing the work

2. Pre-Work Confirmation

Before starting work, carry out the following:

  • Protection of at least 1 m around the area
  • Confirmation of protection for fixtures and precision equipment
  • No work underneath
  • Confirmation of falling-object measures
  • Confirmation of step-ladder stability
  • Work scope determined

3. Pre-Work Photos

  • Full view before removal
  • Close-up of existing damage or soiling
  • Surrounding condition photos

Existing damage must be recorded.

4. Prohibited During Work

  • No work standing on the top step of the step-ladder
  • No work in sideways stance
  • No removal in forced posture
  • No tool handling that may cause dropping
  • No leaning removed materials against walls

5. Fall and Damage Prevention

  • Hold with both hands in principle when removing
  • Large boards: work with two or more persons
  • Temporary placement of removed items: place away from work area, in a place with no foot traffic
  • Removed materials: lay flat and protect
  • Collect screws and hardware; do not place directly on floor

6. Above-Ceiling Confirmation

  • Check contact with ducts, wiring, sprinklers
  • Check interference with other trades
  • If cutting or processing is needed, take dust measures

7. Restoration Confirmation

  • Confirm original position and orientation
  • Confirm screw tightening
  • Confirm looseness
  • Confirm cracks or chips
  • Confirm access panel open/close

The supervisor shall perform final confirmation after restoration.

8. Post-Work Photos

  • Full view after restoration
  • Finish confirmation photos

Before-and-after records must be kept.
